Video Gaming Tournaments

Postby Strife » Wed Apr 14, 2010 9:05 pm

Yes, this is already in the other "Gaming" thread, but I figure it should be under events as well. :)

THIS JUST IN!

This year's tournaments will be :

TATSUNOKO VS. CAPCOM - Double Elimination

SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV - Double Elimination

SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL - Rules to be determined - I refuse to have a hardcore NO ITAMZ FOX ONLY FINAL DESTINATION style tournament. I want this to be fuuuun! Pokemon themed rounds? Ultra High drop hammers with 30 lives? Smash Balls only? I don't know yet. :D

Prizes are also to be determined, but I can assure you it won't be garbage.

most likely we'll do what MTAC did for their SSF4 tournament (using both systems so when its your turn you ask your opponent what system you want to play on)

i think both systems are on the same type of monitor; the "EVO" monitor

I'm all for the fun of items in Smash Bros. but in a tournament setting, I would very much prefer the ruleset that most fairly rewards the higher level player. Items are often unused in tournaments because they spawn in random locations and completely change the flow of the match (that's a bad thing when playing for more than just fun). But if you absolutely insist on using items, then whatevs.

SSF4 tourney should be Saturday 7:00pm

as for smash, don't count out an "itemless tourney" completely (i myself don't really like smash tourney rules but i know its what the players prefer)

imagine mario kart as a fair racer with no items, thats kinda how i feel about smash tournaments
